About YLC
How We Started

Laura Barrett is the owner and Director of YOGA LOVE COLLECTIVE and the story started quite a few years ago…

Laura can always remember her first yoga class as a young woman in Southampton. A dark cold room for relaxation left her feeling uninspired by the practice and so she left it there, not knowing at the time that it would find it’s way back to her many years later.

Fast forward 12 years after travelling the world, Laura worked in the trendy city of Manchester and after several years of burn out, she found herself looking for a way to balance up the hectic commute and long working week and so came across a hot yoga studio five minutes away from her office. And so it began. What started as a once a week treat soon turned into a 6 day a week habit. She was hooked. A year later in January 2016, Laura travelled to Goa in India to complete her 200 hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training. The intensive month was everything that Laura had dreamed it would be: it completely changed her life.

Returning home and back to work full time, she was able to set up two weekly yoga classes in her workplace, Amaze. This soon left Laura feeling hungry to teach more and began to extend her offerings out to the wider community in March 2016. By November 2016, Laura followed her heart to become a full time teacher and quit her job to completely immerse herself in the world of yoga. During this time, Budding Rose Yoga was born.

Laura’s teachings have gone from strength to strength and whilst enjoying teaching across various yoga studios in the North West, she again listened to the feeling in her heart to step out alone and offer her classes and workshops independently. From this strong desire to listen and tune in, YOga LOve Collective was created in 2020.

Laura’s Teaching

With philosophy at the heart of its teachings, YOga LOve Collective represents a traditional, honest and inclusive approach to yoga. With heavy influences from her own practices of Jivamukti, a dynamic spiritual practice, Laura always brings heart to yoga and teaches with passion and playfulness.

Whether it is a yin class, mandala or a flow class that you attend, Laura ensures that the ancient wisdom of yoga is translated into her teachings. You can expect dynamic and fun movement, uplifting beats, meditation, pranayama, chanting & mantra, and philosophically themed sequencing. Laura holds space that allows you to delve within, in your own time and with an inquisitive nature, to allow you to become the best version of yourself.

YOga LOve Collective epitomises everything that is important for Laura as she continues along the path of Yoga in her own practice and also in the way that she teaches.
